The Ethereal Beauty of Luagan Lalak Recreation Park

Luagan Lalak is a spectacular freshwater wetland that offers one of Brunei’s most iconic landscapes. A network of wooden footpaths stretches across the alluvial floodplains, which dry up into green grassy fields during dry spells and fill with reflective, mirror-like blackwater during the rains. It is a photographer’s dream, especially at sunrise when the mist rolls off the water under a pastel sky.

The Billionth Barrel Monument and Seria’s Oil Heritage

Erected on the beach in Seria, the Billionth Barrel Monument stands as a tribute to the discovery of oil in 1929, which transformed Brunei into one of the world’s most prosperous nations. The monument features arches pointing toward the South China Sea, located close to the historic Seria-1 well. Visitors can explore the nearby Energy Kitchen and discover the history of the oil town that fueled Brunei’s growth.

Indigenous Customs at the Mendaram Longhouse

Venture deeper inland to meet the indigenous Iban community at the Mendaram Longhouse.
