About

Housed in a beautifully preserved colonial-era building dating back to 1938, the Belait District Museum offers visitors a journey through the history and heritage of Brunei’s largest district. Once the official residence of the Assistant British Resident and later the Belait District Officer, the building has also welcomed His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah during royal visits to the district. Today, it is the only district museum located outside Brunei-Muara, featuring exhibits that explore Belait’s cultural heritage, historical development, natural environment, and the communities that have shaped the district over the years.
